PIPE JACKING / MICRO TUNNELLING

Waras Megah Sdn. Bhd. Is an experienced Malaysia pipeline contractor having delivered pipeline projects all over Malaysia since the company’s inception in 1992.

Micro tunnelling / is a process that helps to lay pipe lines using remotely controlled Micro tunnel Boring Machine controlled by a sensitive computer system. The machine is driven from shaft called ‘jacking shaft’ towards another targeted shaft call ‘receiving shaft’. When the machine is being driven, pipes are placed behind the machine and pushed into the ground simultaneously to form the required tunnel. Once the completion of the required span of the pipe line, the machine lifted out to the ground from the ‘receiving shaft’.

Within this description, microtunnelling is specifically defined as being a steerable remote controlled shield for installing a pipejack with an internal diameter less than that permissible for man-entry. Pipejackers often use a laser guidance system to maintain the line and level of the installation, though, as with larger pipe jacking installations, both laser guidance and normal survey techniques can also be utilised. Pipe jacking and micro tunnelling are normally used for main line or trunk pipelines.

We now own a comprehensive range of Boring & TBM Micro tunnelling machines and equipment that can install underground pipe lines from 225mm diameter to 3000mm diameter.

We also have access to other highly specialised machinery capable of dealing with extremely high water tables, rock and boulders if the expected geology dictates the use of slurry based systems.

Our considerable experience in this specialised field encourages our clients and designers to consult us for practical, early advice on both simple and difficult solutions. This is actively encouraged by Waras Megah and our advice often removes unrealistic options at the early development stage.
